In rooms with high humidity, experts recommend using PVC panels. The question arises whether it is possible to make a plastic ceiling with your own hands, because the services of specialists are not cheap, but you really want beauty and comfort.
If you follow the instructions, then a smooth and aesthetically attractive ceiling surface will delight you for more than one year.
Start with preparatory work – clean the ceiling of old plaster and whitewash. Treat the entire surface with an antifungal solution. If you plan to mount light sources, first make electrical wiring.
For the construction of a frame or crate, use guide metal profiles or wooden slats.
Reiki or profile must be fixed in a horizontal plane at the same level. To do this, at the required height around the perimeter of the room, draw a line using a level.
After marking work, install the profiles along the borders and attach them with galvanized self-tapping screws and plastic dowels.
Then, install the profiles on the ceiling, in increments of 40 centimeters. Attach the ceiling profile to direct hangers, setting its ends to the guide profiles (on the wall). You should get a reliable and durable design.
Before installing the panels, measure their length. Trim them with a hacksaw if necessary. Install the first panel from the edge and attach with self-tapping screws, experts call them “bugs”.
Insert the second bar into the first and fasten using the tongue-and-groove method. Connect all panels in the same way. Remember that the connection gives density to the canvas, and self-tapping bugs will provide strength. The last panel may need to be cut lengthwise.
Panels are laid with or without finishing elements. Recently, masters have resorted to the second method.
